GK caught up with 2014 World Champion Simone Biles at a photo shoot for our 2015-2016 Competitive Gymnastics Apparel Catalog. She was as sweet as her smile and gave GK a behind the scenes look at her struggles, triumphs, and how she has taken the gymnastics world by storm.
GK: What has been your most difficult challenge in gymnastics and how did you overcome it?
SB: My attitude and immaturity. I'm still working on it by having long talks with my family which help me improve myself.
GK: Tell us your favorite and least favorite gymnastics skill?
SB: My favorite gymnastics skill would have to be double layouts half full. I do not have a least favorite skill.
GK: How do you stay so down to earth being the second consecutive World Champion?
SB: My support system has always been there to help me focus on my goals and to encourage me as I continue to work on upgrades. They, most of all, have kept me grounded throughout the years.
GK: What advice would you give to a gymnast just starting out on the Elite track?
SB: To always keep an open mind, set goals, and dream big.
GK: How are you training differently for a spot on the upcoming 2016 Rio Olympic Games than in the past?
SB: My training is similar to what I've always done. The biggest key is to remain focused on my goals.
