GK recently caught up with Aly Raisman to hear from her about her latest spring leotard collection. During the interview she also shared with us her favorite gymnastics skills, love for her fans, and when they can expect to see her on the competition floor again.
GK: Where does your design inspiration come from with your latest Aly Raisman gymnastics leotards?
AR: Right now, my inspiration mostly comes from the celebrity red carpet. Since it's award season, it's easy to look online and find inspiration from all the celebrity gowns. I love finding innovative designs and looking for stylish patterns because I want gymnasts to feel confident and cute in my girl's gymnastics leotards. I really like the new gymnastics tank leotard collection I have created for spring, especially because of the bright colors used. My all time favorite leotard has to be the Atlantis Wave Tank Leotard. I love the combination of the bright blue and lime green. The best part about this workout leotard is that it does not show any sweat regardless of how long I spend at the gym! I'm also a fan of sublimation which is why we created the Aly Raisman Fuchsia Force Leotard (shown in the picture above). This girl's gymnastics leotard is a lightweight spandex material, making it a great choice for a hot day and the long hours of practice.
GK: When can your fans expect to see you compete again?
AR: I am hoping to compete again in March at the Jesolo Trophy in Italy.
GK: You’re very involved in social media, how do you feel this has helped you as a gymnast?
AR: I love to be involved with my fans on social media. I really enjoy hearing feedback and getting new ideas from them about my gymnastics leotards.
GK: What is your favorite skill in gymnastics?
AR: My first pass on floor. It is very challenging but it feels good when I stick it.
GK: How do you feel about the potential of Olympic 2024 to be held in Boston?
AR: I think that the 2024 Olympics being held in Boston would be incredible. I would love to be as involved as possible and attend as many sporting events as I can. At the 2012 Olympics, I was only able to go to one event, the men's soccer final. I wasn't able to watch anything else because we were busy competing and most of the events were over before we finished.
