Alexandra Raisman set out to make a successful comeback and she did just that. At the 2015 Jesolo Trophy, Aly received the All Around and Floor Exercise bronze medal. She also just recently released her 2015 Summer Signature Leotard Collection by GK. We were able to catch up with her and hear first hand how it feels to be back on the competition floor.
GK: Congratulations on placing third on the floor and All Around at the Jesolo Trophy! It was awesome seeing you back in action. How does it feel to be back on the competition floor?
AR: Thank you. It felt awesome! I was so excited and happy to be back out there. It was emotional to hear the national anthem and hear my name announced before each event! I loved it.
GK: Tell us how competing feels different now than the last time you were training?
AR: Competing at this competition felt the same as before. The only difference is that I felt more confident this time around because of having the experience of competing at the Olympics.
GK: Can you tell us about your training leading up to your comeback at Jesolo Trophy?
AR: I continued with the same training and similar schedule that I maintained before in 2012. I understand that the girls competing now are talented and hard working, making the 2016 Olympic team will be difficult, but I'm hoping that my continued dedication to the sport of gymnastics will pay off like it did before.
GK: What is your favorite part about attending National Team Camp at the Ranch?
AR: I feel like I am constantly improving. Every time I go, I feel stronger and more confident than the last time I was there. Although it is hard and exhausting, the training camps are crucial to our success.
GK: What did you miss most about competing?
AR: I missed the feeling of accomplishment. It feels nice to know that the hard work paid off! I also really missed the bond that I share with the other girls out there on the floor.
GK: What did you miss least?
AR: I hate waiting my turn. I wish I could go first on every single event because I get so anxious and impatient. If I am towards the end of the list to compete, I often try and take my mind off of my routine so I don't over think it and psych myself out.
GK: If everything continues to go well for you, what’s next?
AR: I can only take things a day at a time. I have training camp at the end of this month, where I will continue to improve my flexibility and perfect my floor routine as much as possible!
GK: We just released your new summer Aly Raisman signature leotard collection. Tell us which styles are your favorites and why.
AR: I am so excited about this gymnastics apparel collection because it is fun, bright, sassy and has my favorite sublimated polytek material. The sublimated polytek fabric is extremely comfortable and doesn't show sweat, especially during long summer practices. My favorite leotard from this collection would have to be Loyalty. As the Olympic Games are quickly approaching, I think it is important to incorporate red, white and blue styles into my gymnastics leotard collection. I also love the new cheetah print and vibrant colors that are on the other three leotards and the gymnastics workout shorts. These will look amazing on the girls, especially once they have a nice summer tan.
We are so excited to have GK Champion Aly Raisman a part of the family and wish her continued success in the sport of gymnastics. Shop her 2015 Spring Signature Leotard line to look and feel like an Elite.
