We are so proud to have our "Color Your Leo " design featured recently in the New Orleans newspaper.  Julia Vedros, from Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies won the national "Color Your Leo" contest from the P&G Gymnastics Championships in Hartford, CT which we and our partner, Under Armour sponsored.

Just twelve years old, Julia, shown on the right, seems to excel in lots of different areas. She is an excellent student with outstanding grades, a dedicated runner, and an advanced gymnast. She trains daily as a level 7 gymnast at Ivanov's Gymnastics Academy in Metairie. In late summer, Julia's "Purple Petals" design was selected from over 300 entries received, and won with the leading number of votes on the USA Gymnastics Facebook page.

Using the template of a basic leotard shape, Julia came up with over 10 different designs. Finally incorporating her favorite colors of pink and purple and along with her favorite elements from each design, she came up with the final product. She wanted to make the leo a whimsical look that resembled butterfly wings. Our GK leotard designer, Erica Jones created the final product of this beautiful leotard which was later featured in our GK Fashion Show at tthe 2013 P&G Gymnastics Championships in August in Hartford, CT. Julia received the leo as her contest prize.

Julia competes in local and regional competitions on the uneven bars, floor exercises, balance beam, and vault. Her favorite event is the floor exercises since it allows the most self-expression and creativity. She comments about her passion for gymnastics, “I guess I was drawn to gymnastics,” she said. “I have a lot of energy and it’s a great way to release it.” She is a well-liked individual and teammate, always showing support for other athletes. GK Elite is proud to once again sponsor the Nastia Liukin Cup, an annual Junior Olympic competition hosted by Olympic Gymnast, Nastia Liukin, and USA Gymnastics. It follows a series of 20 qualifying meets in 14 states throughout the United States. The qualifiers will meet at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in Greensboro, NC on February 28, 2014, and will be dressed to compete in GK gymnastics apparel.

To create the perfect design for the Nastia Liukin Cup competitors, GK consulted Nastia Liukin, herself. Together, we've fashioned a leotard and warm-up for each of the competitors, and they are fabulous! They're sleek and sophisticated, yet sparkly and fun all at the same time. A little snow didn't stop 2012 All-Around Olympic Gold Medalist, Gabrielle Douglas, from visiting us at GK Elite on a blustery day! As you can see, we were thrilled to see her!

Her trip wasn't without purpose, though. Gabby features her own line of gymnastics apparel with GK Elite. She's currently wrapping up the design process on her unreleased collection of Spring and Summer Essentials, as well as her competitive and in-stock leotards. On this day, a photo shoot was in order. Of course Gabby looks fabulous in all of her new gymnastics sportswear, as will you.

It has been quite a successful year for GK Champions, and American artistic gymnasts, Simone Biles and Kyla Ross. It seems 2014 will be no different. They both have recently accepted invitations to represent the United States at the 2014 AT&T American Cup to be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Greensboro, NC Coliseum Complex.

Biles of Spring,TX and Bannon's Gymnastix, is the 2013 U.S. National All-Around Champion and the 2013 World All-Around Champion.  She was also the 2012 Junior National Champion on the vault, and won the bronze medal in the all-around competition. Biles took the silver medal at the 2013 AT&T American Cup as she debuted as a senior international elite gymnast. Shown on the left is a photo taken at the 2013 Secret US Classic where Simone is wearing a special order GK leo. Ross of Aliso Viejo, CA and Gym-Max, was the 2013 World all-around silver-medalist  and placed silver in the uneven bars and balance beam. At the 2013 P&G Gymnastics Championships, Ross took the gold in the uneven bars, balance beam, and also the silver in the all-around. She was a member of the 2012 gold medal-winning Olympic team. The photo on the right was taken this past year at the Secret US Classic, where Kyla looked stunning in a special order GK gymnastics leotard. The AT&T American Cup is the most prestigious international gymnastics invitational held in the U.S. This International Gymnastics Federation World Cup event features the top male and female gymnasts from around the world. Biles and Ross both qualified for the AT&T American Cup based on their performances in the all-around at the 2013 World Championships.
